As the newly acclaimed BC NDP candidate for Delta South, Jason McCormick renewed a commitment to look out for everyday people, and defend against powerful interests.

Jason McCormick has fought for better public and active transportation for more than a decade. A bus driver for TransLink and community leader, Jason is extremely active in the BC cycling community and the South Delta Basketball Association, growing the latter to more than 400 youth participants. He is ready to take action for young people, families and commuters in Delta South as an MLA.

“In Delta South, our community is facing real challenges. We need a government that is ready to take those challenges on. That’s David Eby’s BC NDP,” said McCormick. “John Rustad’s Conservatives have promised to tear up our housing plan. They’re promised to cut our healthcare and they won’t properly fund public transit. With them, we’ll pay more and get less. We can’t afford the risk.”

Since forming government in July 2017, the BC NDP has taken action on crucial issues that matter to the people of Delta South, including:

• Putting people ahead of speculators and investors by bringing in tough new restrictions on short-term rentals and a speculation tax, plus simplified approvals that make it easier and faster to get 300,000 new homes built;
• Helping people get care when they need it by building and upgrading hospitals in Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey and Richmond;
• Putting money back in your pocket by eliminating MSP premiums, lowering ICBC rates by $500 a year and boosting the BC Family Benefit by $445; and
• Taking action to create 75,000 good paying jobs in the last year, to make BC an economic leader in Canada, with the highest wages in the country.
