Sylvia Lindgren to take action for families in Salmon Arm-Shuswap with the BC NDP

Salmon Arm Councillor Sylvia Lindgren will run with the BC NDP in Salmon Arm-Shuswap.

Twice-elected to Salmon Arm municipal council, Sylvia Lindgren has a record of taking action on the issues that matter to the people in her community. Having lived in Salmon Arm for over 30 years, and raised three kids in the local community, she is ready to take on the big challenges facing families today.
“People across Salmon Arm-Shuswap need a government that will take action to strengthen public services and tackle today’s big challenges head-on,” said Lindgren. “The David Eby I know is on the side of regular people and fights to help them get ahead. John Rustad has a 20-year record of cuts and higher costs – he’s a risk we cannot afford. I’m ready to work every day so that the people of Salmon Arm-Shuswap can build good lives in the community they love.”

Since forming government in July 2017, the BC NDP has taken action on crucial issues that matter to the people of Salmon Arm-Shuswap, including:

  • Putting people ahead of speculators and investors by bringing in tough new restrictions on short-term rentals and a speculation tax, plus simplified approvals that make it easier and faster to get 300,000 new homes built;
  • Helping you and your family get the care you need by hiring over 800 new family doctors;
  • Putting money back in your pocket by eliminating MSP premiums, lowering ICBC rates by $500 a year and boosting the BC Family Benefit by $445; and
  • Keeping communities safe by hiring 250 more police officers, giving police more power to address public drug use, cracking down on repeat violent offenders, and taking on organized crime — including seizing Hells Angels clubhouses and many other proceeds of crime.

"As an elected community representative, Sylvia has taken action to make life better for families: by building housing, improving transportation links, and protecting wild spaces for recreation and future generations," said Premier David Eby. "Now, she's ready to fight for the issues that matter to people in Salmon Arm-Shuswap as an MLA."

Sylvia Lindgren will join David Eby and 91 other exceptional BC NDP candidates in this fall’s provincial election, all committed to real action to help people build a good life here in BC.
