Rustad refuses to explain his anti-vaccine conspiracy theories

Today, it was revealed that John Rustad told an anti-vax group that he regrets getting the “so-called vaccine” and accused Dr. Bonnie Henry of using vaccines as a “control on the population.”

Rustad refused to answer repeated questions from journalists today, including:
What would’ve happened if people didn’t get the shots? Are you suggesting that everything would’ve been the same in terms of death and illness rates without widespread vaccinations?
Do you believe in vaccine science?
Do you regret getting the vaccine, as you said in that video?
Do you mind explaining the circumstances around that video?
In relation to why the vaccine had been mandated, you talked about it not being about trying to stop the spread, but it was more around shaping opinion and control on the population. Is that how you feel about the COVID vaccines, and what did you mean by that?
Can you explain to voters why you said you regret getting three doses of the COVID vaccine?

Rustad has repeatedly promised to fire Dr. Bonnie Henry for her actions during the pandemic.

Ravi Kahlon, BC NDP Candidate:
“Today we saw a person who wants to be Premier, who says he regrets getting the vaccine because he thinks Dr. Bonnie Henry was using it to control the population. He refused to answer basic questions because he’s trying to hide his bizarre and dangerous anti-science views. It’s scary to imagine John Rustad in charge of BC’s healthcare system. That’s a risk we can’t afford.”
