John Rustad told supporters he wants American-style user-pay healthcare

At a Fort St. John town hall meeting in August, John Rustad said he supports changing the Canada Health Act to allow two-tier, user-pay healthcare:

So the question just so everybody knows: will we allow for user-pay health care in the province? Under the Canadian Health Act we cannot do that. So that's why I say single-payer. Here's the weird thing. If you want to purchase health care, you can go across the border and purchase it, you can go to Alberta. And Albertans can come to British Columbia and purchase it, but British Columbians can't purchase it in British Columbia, and Albertans can't purchase it in Alberta. It's weird, but that's what the silly Canadian Health Act is all about but, hopefully one day we'll get some changes there as well.” (Audio)
