Everyday British Columbians chip in for Eby, billionaires back Rustad

Third quarter fundraising reports reveal the BC NDP’s strongest quarter ever, fueled by small donations from everyday British Columbians. Rustad’s BC Conservatives relied disproportionately on larger donations, including from several billionaires.

The BC NDP received 11,845 small contributions of $250 or less while the BC Conservatives received just 9,729. The $3 million raised by the BC NDP is the party’s most ever in a single quarter, up $700,000 from Q2.

Names matching several billionaires appear on Rustad’s donor list for this year, including a Dennis Wilson - Chip’s legal name - giving the maximum allowable donation on May 6 of this year. Other billionaires who appear to have given Rustad the maximum donation include Ryan Beedie and Bob (Robert) Gaglardi.

In the first three quarters of 2024, Eby’s BC NDP has raised $1.9 million more than Rustad’s BC Conservatives.

Heather Stoutenburg, BC NDP Provincial Director:

“Thank you to the thousands of British Columbians who are chipping in to back David Eby’s action plan, including a $1,000 tax cut, creating 300,000 homes the middle class can afford, and connecting people with a family doctor. While billionaires like Chip Wilson back Rustad’s plan for tax breaks for the wealthiest, everyday British Columbians are standing with David Eby.”
