Action for you and your family: Anna Warwick Sears earns BC NDP nomination in Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream

Anna Warwick Sears has been nominated as the BC NDP candidate in Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream, committing to deliver for the people of her riding.

Anna Warwick Sears has spent her career fighting to protect and preserve the Okanagan’s lakes and rivers. As the Executive Director of the Okanagan Basin Water Board, she works every day to make sure people in the Okanagan Valley have access to safe, clean, fresh water, and to protect lakes and rivers from the impacts of climate change. She knows how necessary well-funded public services are for people who want to build and live good lives.

“I see the value of well-funded public services every day. We need a government who will invest, not one that will undermine our services with reckless cuts,” said Sears. “John Rustad may believe in cutting, but David Eby believes in building. He and the whole BC NDP team are dedicated to investing in the services we rely on, making it easier to live a good life in Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream.”

Since forming government in July 2017, the BC NDP has taken action on crucial issues that matter to the people of Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream, including:

  • Putting people ahead of speculators and investors by bringing in tough new restrictions on short-term rentals and a speculation tax, plus simplified approvals that make it easier and faster to get 300,000 new homes built;
  • Helping you and your family get the care you need by hiring 700 new family doctors;
  • Putting money back in your pocket by eliminating MSP premiums, lowering ICBC rates by $500 a year and boosting the BC Family Benefit by $445; and
  • Keeping communities safe by hiring 250 more police officers, giving police more power to address public drug use, cracking down on repeat violent offenders, and taking on organized crime — including seizing Hells Angels clubhouses and many other proceeds of crime.

"As the Executive Director of the Okanagan Basin Water Board, Anna understands that people in Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream need a government that will invest in the services we rely on," said Premier David Eby. "Falcon and Rustad would deliver risky and reckless cuts that we can't afford, while increasing fees and charges to fund tax breaks for those already at the top. Anna will stand up for her community every time."

Anna Warwick Sears will join David Eby and 91 other exceptional BC NDP candidates in this fall’s provincial election, all committed to real action to help people build a good life here in BC.
